  1. Append JSON to any recipe

Like forkthecookbook.com, append `.json` to any user profile for a list of recipes. Append, `.json` to any recipe for that formatted recipe.

I just wrote a Pelican plugin for including my recipes from forkthecookbook, but I'm afraid that they may never go open source and that possibly the site is dying (just based on not seeing any new blog posts for the last year, and that they havent changed the theme etc from the beginning).

If I can get the JSON from these recipes, I'd be happy to adapt the plugin to work for cookQ too!

      • forked recipes UX/UI improvements

I'd like to see something like:
        - forked recipes should show the original recipe link near the title
        - all changes should be highlighted to see what's the difference between the original one (like some sort of diff/compare)
        - have some small text box saying why it's been forked so that you can see at first glance what's new/different
        - in the grid view it would be cool to see the tree of the recipes

          Hello The Peach,

thanks for this good list! It’s going to be easy to mark cards as fork using a different UI attribute and we already show the link to the original recipe, but it’s not really clear with the non existing UI. Being able to show the -diff (+make a pull request?) and the evolution tree will be very interesting and a good challenge :)

        • easily move order of steps by dragging

In the Procedure steps, it would be nice to be able to move the order in which steps are originally documented without having to erase things, maybe by dragging the step into the correct space

is it possible to import recipes from other sites, i.e., epicurious or allrecipes?

            • Error rendering measurements

In the Yogurt cake recipe, only the eggs were recognized in the end result - the graph only indicates that ingredient.

              • Colour selection for ingredients

It took me a while to understand that once I've selected the colour I had to click on "Choose".
Having a "choose" button as well seems redundant.

                • Procedure steps

                  I would definitely look forward:
                  - more than 7 steps,
                  - a brief explanation on how to write the steps (what is considered a "step"?)
                  - steps automatically expands from single line to multi-line input boxes
                  - drag and drop of steps (already asked for in another suggestion)

                    Hello Sir,

all of these observations are valid and now under review.

Once the UI is built the user should have a better idea of the available space for “condensed” steps and the reason for keeping them extremely synthetic. We should describe them as ‘single sentence procedure instructions’

+ 1 reorder, single to multiline

                  • Tools for the recipe

I found out that knowing exactly what is needed in a recipe is quite fundamental and you need to read the recipe throughout to understand exactly what you need, and sometimes it's not even clear. Why not have a panel similar to the ingredients to list all technical stuff you need?

                    • Improving existing recipes, improving overall quality

This is a major piece of work, but the aim should be to provide quality recipes that users can trust.
The like button is a good start, but people who cook knows that most of the recipes are not accurate nor have been tested (and even if they have, nobody has told them).

This could lead to a couple of features:
                      - "tested" button: gather user experience with the recipe: presenting the user a simple form with: "how good was it" "what was wrong" "precautions"... you name them, it should be simple and immediate.
                      - corrections to the recipe: this…

                        • units of measure

I don`t no how, but the units must be more explicit. When you put 100g it`s ok but 3cu it`s more complicated to understand.
Another thing if the temperature ºF and ºC...
It`s very good to see this grow

                            Hi Anonymous,
We’ve been working on this and at as of now, when you insert measurements you’ll get a pop-up box that will explain how to implement the units. Please let us know how it worked for you when you try it out again. And, thanks so much for testing cookQ! We are happy to have you on board from the start!
